LAND a big win in Ascot’s 3.00.

LAND OF LEGENDS looked a real horse to follow when winning in style on his handicap debut at Newmarket last time. He travelled like a quality performer there before quickening well to cross the line with plenty left in the tank. This 7f distance looked ideal and, with just four runs under his belt, he should have a lot more to offer.

Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has his horses going well and could have a group-class horse on his hands here. Ripp Orf is worthy of a saver given his strong record over course and distance. He showed good signs when fifth in the Victoria Cup and was less than two lengths off the pace in hot company on the July Course 14 days ago.

It’s interesting to see trainer David Elsworth fit a tongue tie for the first time and that could help him deliver his usual finishing flourish.

Fanaar is another to note after running a cracker to finish third in the Britannia Stakes at the Royal meeting. That was over a mile but he’s a Listed winner at this trip and the drop could help.

MOTAKHAYYEL (2.25 Ascot) got the better of Flashcard when winning at Newmarket last time and can dish out another beating. Stepping up to this mile worked wonders there and he gives the impression that there’s a lot more to come.

Trainer Richard Hannon is going well and the handicapper has been fair with a 6lb rise in the weights for that HQ success.

Wings Of Time could be a bigger rival today given how nicely he won on the July Course 16 days ago. He was in the firing line for a long way but kept fighting off challengers to win a shade cosily.

Flashcard has been well touted this season but has so far failed to live up to his billing. It’s too early to write him off but he has a bit of catching up to do against these rivals.

Fall in love with SUMMER ROMANCE (1.50 Ascot). This Kingman filly really caught the eye when zooming away from her rivals to win a Newmarket Listed contest pulling a bus last month.

Her turn of foot was impressive and it looks a wise move to stay sprinting as she steps up in class. None of today’s foes have come close to producing anything like her form so far.

Good Vibes looks the pick of them after scoring nicely at York last time. She was well on top crossing the line over 5f on the Knavesmire and should see out this longer distance.

In Ascot’s main event at 3.40, it’s hard to get away from Enable who was impressive when winning the Coral-Eclipse last time and is even better over today’s longer trip.

But if ANTHONY VAN DYCK is still available at around 7-1 come off time, he’s definitely worth an each-way tickle. The Derby form took a knock in the Irish version when Sovereign was allowed far too much rope and none of the fancied horses could catch up in time.

It was still a fair effort to finish second and Aidan O’Brien has taken the rare step — for him — of putting one of his star horses in cheekpieces. That could help him concentrate a little and deliver his undoubted talent where it matters.

It would be no surprise to see him repeat the Curragh effort and finish his race off well. If he does, connections could do a lot worse than aim for the St Leger as he shapes like a stayer in the making.
