PASSENGERS had to be evacuated today from a plane which was preparing to take off after what was thought to be smoke began seeping into the cabin.
Footage shows it gushing through vents on the ceiling as passengers look on — and moments later fire engines were rushing to the scene.
Passengers on the 4.20pm easyJet flight from Luton airport to Edinburgh were told to leave their seats while fire-fighters arrived.
This drama came amid a torrential downpour that sent water gushing into the terminal building.
An easyJet statement said: “Flight EZY017 from Luton to Edinburgh remained on stand after boarding due to a technical issue which resulted in mist caused by condensation being emitted into the flight deck.
“Passengers disembarked normally and as a precaution only are being transferred to an alternative aircraft which will be departing shortly.
“The safety of its passengers and crew is easyJet's highest priority and easyJet operates its fleet of aircraft in strict compliance with all manufacturers’ guidelines.
“We would like to apologise to passengers for the delay and inconvenience caused.”

Meanwhile heavy rainfall led to water pouring from the roof of Luton airport terminal.
Stunned passengers said they "couldn't believe" what was going on as they filmed rain falling inside.
A spokesman for the airport said: "Following a period of unprecedented rainfall, we have experienced water damage in a number of locations.
"We apologise for any disruption to services while we seek to resolve the issue."
