Unless you’ve been on a social media diet the past few months, the name Chantel Jeffries is sure to ring a bell. The 23-year-old Instagram star and DJ has nearly 3 million Instagram followers, is a member of Khloé Kardashian’s Good American “Good Squad,” hangs out with stars like Sophia Richie and Hailey Baldwin, and, yes, has been spotted with Justin Bieber and most recently, Scott Disick.

But she’s also known for her sexy bikini photos, amazing makeup skills, and Kylie Jenner-adjacent sense of style. Which is why we sat down with the star to find out how she keeps up her social media game, and of course, what it’s like to be on set with a Kardashian.

You’re part of Khloé Kardashian’s Good American “Good Squad”. What’s it like working with her?
I did two seasons for Good American – season 2 and season 3. It’s such a great experience. Khloé is great to work with. I know her through mutual friends, and she’s just a really nice girl. When she asked me to do it, I was like, “sure!” I love what the brand stands for; body image and making something for everyone, which is really inspiring.

What are the Good American shoots like?
The set is really lively, everyone’s having a good time. It’s a really good experience. Khloé is on set with everyone making the videos and taking pictures together, so it’s really cool. The jeans are great, and the squad of everyone that was part of it was so amazing to work with. Everyone’s so different.

What did you learn from being on set with Khloé?
I always love her outfits because she knows how to dress for someone that’s curvy. I love a high-waisted jean with a bodysuit, which is something she’ll do, which is cool cause I’m curvy too.

What’s your favorite Good American style?
I really love the jeans that lace up the sides – they’re my favorite.

How do you find jeans that fit your body perfectly?
I actually never really find any that fit me, just because of how my body is shaped. I just get whatever jeans I like and then I take them to the tailor to get the waist taken in and then I get the ankles taken in, so they fit great. A lot of people don’t think to tailor their jeans, but then you get the perfect fit. One size doesn’t fit all!

Your photos always get over 100,000 likes on Instagram. What’s the #1 factor that gets people to double tap?
Something that has a really cool background. People like the aesthetic of seeing a cool view along with a cool photo.

It’s almost summer, a.k.a. bikini photo season. Do you have a go-to angle for a bathing suit shot?
So the best angle for a bikini photo for me personally is a little bit lower, so it makes me look taller and a little skinnier, so whoever’s taking the picture has to squat down. Get low.

How many photos do you typically take before landing on the winner?
It’s a hit or miss. Sometimes I get the best one on the first photo, and I take so many and I go back and I’m like, “the first was best,” but sometimes it takes me like 20.

What’s your go-to makeup look for a selfie?
I think the more matte look, like I’ve been wearing just powder and not foundation, cause it looks better from more angles and you can add your highlight where you want it to shine. If you use a more luminous foundation in photos, you can look more greasy, and certain points of you face can look higher. So you want to go more matte.

What’s the best time of day to take — and post — an Instagram photo?
Either morning or afternoon. During the day, the sun is overhead and there’s a lot of shadow. But if you take photos in the morning, you can get a good light. And it’s definitely better to post photos in the morning.

Favorite filter?
Aden!

Best photo editing app?
My favorite editing app is VSCO Cam. I use that to add grain to my pictures and they have really cool filters. But I also just like editing the color and stuff on Instagram.

Tell us a few of your favorite beauty secrets.
I’ve learned so many tricks, but if you’re on the go and you’re a little greasy, you can always grab those toilet seat covers and use them to blot your skin. That comes in handy a lot. Hair spray on a spoolie brush or toothbrush works really well too. And one of my favorite looks is faux freckles, because it makes you look like you’re wearing less makeup. And I love applying your makeup setting spray before you highlight, because it makes the highlighter really show. And I do that before my mascara, so it doesn’t make my mascara run.

Whats’ your favorite highlighter?
Right now I love the Make Up For Ever pro light fusion. It’s very pigmented – just a little bit goes a long way.

Best social media trick you’ve learned from your fellow influencer friends?
I found out about VSCO cam from my sister, and I didn’t know about that. And just using certain filters and editing, I learned from other people, there’s like those fashion instagrams that always post cool photos, so they make it really dark and then turn up the fade a lot, and it gives it this really cool fashion look for night photos.

What do you look for in an Instagram boyfriend or best friend?
The perfect Instagram best friend is someone who doesn’t mind taking a lot of photos of you, and someone you can share clothes and stuff with so you can get a lot of cool pictures.
